How do you make money?

We generate revenue through two sources: (1) optional paid subscriptions for HOA boards who want to claim and manage their profile, and (2) affiliate partnerships with home services companies such as insurance providers and moving companies. All affiliate relationships are disclosed in our Affiliate Disclosure page. Advertising relationships never influence the reviews or ratings displayed on our platform.

How do I find an HOA?

Why can't I find my HOA?

Our database is built from public state registry data. If your HOA was recently formed, operates under an informal name not on record, or is in a state we haven't yet indexed, it may not appear. We currently index HOAs from Florida, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and North Carolina, with more states being added regularly.

What does the data quality score mean?

The Data Quality Score (0–100) reflects how complete and verified an HOA's public record is. A higher score means more confirmed data fields such as address, filing date, officer information, and geocoordinates. A low score doesn't mean the HOA is bad. It just means the public record is incomplete.

Who can submit a review?

Anyone with a verified HOAReview.com account can submit a review. We require email verification before posting to reduce spam and anonymous abuse. You may only submit one review per HOA.

Are reviews moderated?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All reviews go through a moderation queue before appearing publicly. Our team checks reviews for compliance with our Review Guidelines, which prohibit personal attacks, hate speech, unverifiable claims about specific individuals, and spam. Reviews that meet our guidelines are approved; others are rejected with a reason.

Can I edit or delete my review after submitting?

Yes, within 14 days of submission. After submitting a review, you will receive a confirmation email with secure edit and delete links valid for 14 days. After that window, contact our support team if you need a change.

Why do some reviews show a source label like "Reddit" or "Google"?

We occasionally import publicly available reviews from third-party sources such as Reddit, Google, or government complaint databases to supplement resident-submitted reviews for communities with little coverage. These reviews are clearly labeled with their source and a link to the original. Imported reviews are separate from resident reviews and are held to the same content standards.

How do I claim my HOA's profile?

Visit your HOA's profile page and click "Claim this HOA." You'll be guided through a verification and payment process. Claimed profiles allow board members to respond to reviews publicly, upload documents (CC&Rs, bylaws, financials), and display a Verified badge. See our Pricing page for plan details.

Can I respond to negative reviews?

Yes. If you have claimed your HOA's profile, board members can post one official response per review. Responses are publicly visible below the original review. Responses must comply with our Review Guidelines and may not be used to attack or identify reviewers.

What happens if a review is false or defamatory?

Contact us via our Legal & Abuse Reports page. We take defamation and false-fact claims seriously. Provide as much documentation as possible and we will investigate. We follow a DMCA-style process for content removal requests. Note that negative-but-subjective opinions are generally protected expression and may not qualify for removal.

Is my review anonymous?

Reviews are posted without your real name. Your display name is set during registration and does not have to be your legal name. However, we do store your account information and associate it with your review internally for moderation purposes.
